Abstract

IDENTIFICATION OF Staphylococcus aureus ON THE HANDS OF HEALTHCARE WORKERS AT PUSKESMAS BULELENG III ABSTRACT Nosocomial infections or Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) are infections that occur in patients while receiving treatment at health facilities. Transmission of nosocomial infections can occur through body fluids, droplets, and direct contact with patients/objects around them. Health centers as primary health care facilities have the potential to be a source of infection, especially related to Staphylococcus aureus bacteria which have a high risk of causing nosocomial infections. This study aims to determine the presence of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria on the hands of health workers at the Puskesmas Buleleng III. This type of research is descriptive, involving 28 samples taken using a saturated sampling technique in the form of palm swabs. The samples were then inoculated on MSA media and identified using catalase and coagulase tests. Based on this study, the results of the identification of Staphylococcus aureus on the hands of health workers at the Puskesmas Buleleng III showed that 18 samples (64.3%) were identified as Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, 2 samples (7.1%) were identified as Non Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, and 8 samples (28.6%) were negative for bacteria. The high positive results were caused by the lack of hand hygiene and non-compliance in washing hands by health workers. Keywords : nosocomial infection; identification of Staphylococcus aureus IDENTIFIKASI BAKTERI Staphylococcus aureus PADA TANGAN TENAGA KESEHATAN DI PUSKESMAS BULELENG III ABSTRAK Infeksi nosokomial atau Healthcare Associated Infection (HAIs) merupakan infeksi yang muncul pada pasien selama mendapatkan perawatan di fasilitas kesehatan. Penularan infeksi nosokomial dapat melalui cairan tubuh, droplet, dan kontak langsung dengan pasien/benda yang ada di sekitar. Puskesmas sebagai fasilitas pelayanan kesehatan primer memiliki potensi untuk menjadi sumber infeksi terutama terkait dengan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus yang berisiko tinggi menimbulkan infeksi nosokomial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keberadaan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus pada tangan tenaga kesehatan di Puskesmas Buleleng III. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan melibatkan 28 sampel yang diambil dengan teknik pengambilan sampling jenuh berupa swab telapak tangan. Sampel tersebut kemudian diinokulasi pada media MSA dan diidentifikasi menggunakan uji katalase dan uji koagulase. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, hasil identifikasi Staphylococcus aureus pada tangan tenaga kesehatan di Puskesmas Buleleng III menunjukkan 18 sampel (64,3%) teridentifikasi bakteri Staphylococcus aureus, 2 sampel (7,1%) teridentifikasi sebagai bakteri Non Staphylococcus aureus, dan 8 sampel (28,6%) negatif bakteri. Hasil positif yang tinggi disebabkan oleh kurangnya higienitas tangan dan ketidakpatuhan dalam mencuci tangan yang dilakukan oleh tenaga kesehatan.
