Abstract

THE CORRELATION BETWEEN BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVELS AND TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN OUTPATIENT DIABETES MELLITUS PATIENTS AT RSUD KABUPATEN KARANGASEM ABSTRACT Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by elevated blood glucose levels due to impaired insulin production or insulin resistance. One of the common risk factors associated with diabetes mellitus is dyslipidemia, which is marked by increased total cholesterol levels in the blood. This study aims to determine the relationship between blood glucose levels and total cholesterol levels in outpatient diabetes mellitus patients at Karangasem District General Hospital. The research employed an analytical observational method with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 42 diabetes mellitus patients were selected using purposive sampling. Data collection involved measuring fasting blood glucose levels using the GOD-PAP method and total cholesterol levels using the CHOD-PAP method. Data analysis was conducted using the Pearson correlation test to assess the relationship between the two variables. The results showed a moderate correlation (r = 0.643) with a significant p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05). This study indicates a significant relationship between blood glucose levels and total cholesterol levels in outpatient diabetes mellitus patients at Karangasem District General Hospital. HUBUNGAN KADAR GULA DARAH DENGAN KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL PADA PASIEN DIABETES MELLITUS RAWAT JALAN DI RSUD KABUPATEN KARANGASEM ABSTRAK Diabetes Mellitus (DM) merupakan gangguan metabolisme kronis yang ditandai dengan tingginya kadar gula darah akibat gangguan produksi atau resistensi terhadap insulin. Salah satu faktor risiko yang sering menyertai diabetes mellitus adalah dislipidemia, yang ditandai dengan peningkatan kadar kolesterol total dalam darah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kadar gula darah dengan kadar kolesterol total pada pasien diabetes mellitus rawat jalan di RSUD Kabupaten Karangasem. Penelitian menggunakan metode observasional analitik dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Sampel sebanyak 42 pasien diabetes mellitus dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pengukuran kadar gula darah puasa menggunakan metode GOD-PAP, serta kadar kolesterol total menggunakan metode CHOD-PAP. Analisis data menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson untuk menilai hubungan kedua variabel tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kekuatan hubungan sedang (r = 0,643) dengan signifikansi p-value 0,000 (p<0,05). Penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara kadar gula darah dan kadar kolesterol total pada pasien diabetes mellitus rawat jalan di RSUD Kabupaten Karangasem.
