Abstract

DESCRIPTION OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT MAINTENANCE OF DENTAL AND ORAL HEALTH AND TEETH BRUSHING SKILLS IN GRADE VIII STUDENTS OF SMP WIDYA SAKTI DENPASAR IN 2025 ABSTRACT The oral health of the community in the province of Bali is still very low, this is indicated by the percentage of those experiencing oral health problems of 55.6% and not being able to brush their teeth properly. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of knowledge about oral health and tooth brushing skills in class VIII students of SMP Widya Sakti Denpasar in 2025. The methode of research is descriptive research with a survey design. The results of the study with respondents totaling 30 class VIII students showed knowledge about maintaining oral health in the good category (16.7%), sufficient category (80.0%), and lacking (3.3%). The average knowledge about maintaining oral health in class VIII students of SMP Widya Sakti Denpasar in 2025 was 68.5 sufficient category. The results of the study showed that the toothbrushing skills of class VIII students were in the very good category (100.0%), good category (0.00%), sufficient category (0.00%) and need guidance category (0.00%). The average tooth brushing skills of class VIII students of SMP Widya Sakti Denpasar in 2025 were 86.7 in the very good category. The conclusion of this study to the knowledge of class VIII students of SMP Widya Sakti Denpasar was in the sufficient category (80.0%) with an average of 68,5. Tooth brushing skills were in the very good category (100.0%) with an average of 86.7. Keywords: knowledge, toothbrushing skills, students GAMBARAN PENGETAHUAN TENTANG PEMELIHARAAN KESEHATAN GIGI DAN MULUT SERTA KETERAMPILAN MENYIKAT GIGI PADA SISWA KELAS VIII SMP WIDYA SAKTI DENPASAR TAHUN 2025 ABSTRAK Kesehatan gigi dan mulut masyarakat di provinsi Bali masih sangat rendah hal ini ditujukan dengan persentase yang mengalami masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut sebesar 55,6% dan kurangnya berprilaku menyikat gigi dengan benar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran pengetahuan tentang kesehatan gigi dan mulut serta keterampilan menyikat gigi pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Widya Sakti Denpasar tahun 2025. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan desain survei. Hasil dari penelitian dengan responden berjumlah 30 siswa kelas VIII menunjukan pengetahuan tentang pemeliharaan kesehatan gigi dan mulut dengan kategori baik (16,7%), kategori cukup (80,0%), kurang (3,3%). Rata-rata pengetahuan tentang pemeliharaan kesehatan gigi dan mulut pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Widya Sakti Denpasar tahun 2025 adalah sebesar 68,5 kategori cukup. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa keterampilan menyikat gigi siswa kelas VIII pada kategori sangat baik (100,0%), kategori baik (0,00%), kategori cukup (0,00%) dan kategori perlu bimbingan (0,00%). Rata-rata keterampilan menyikat gigi siswa kelas VIII SMP Widya Sakti Denpasar tahun 2025 adalah sebesar 86,7 kategori sangat baik. Simpulan dari pengetahuan siswa kelas VIII SMP Widya Sakti Denpasar dengan kategori cukup (80,0%) dengan rata-rata 68,5.
