Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BODY MASS INDEX AND BLOOD PRESSURE IN HYPERTENSIVE ELDERLY PEOPLE IN THE WORK AREA OF UPTD PUSKESMAS KEDIRI II ABSTRACT Hypertension is a condition where blood pressure ≥140/90 mmHg. The factor that plays a role in triggering hypertension is obesity, obesity can be determined by calculating the Body Mass Index. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between Body Mass Index and blood pressure in hypertensive elderly. This type of research is quantitative research with a correlational design and uses a cross sectional approach. The sample size was 89 elderly people with purposive sampling technique. The instruments used in this study were observation sheets based on measurements with digital tensimeters and digital scales. The results showed that the results of the chi square test obtained sig. (2-tailed) between body mass index and blood pressure which is 0.000 (systole blood pressure) and 0.003 (diastole blood pressure) (p.value < α 0.05) which means there is a relationship between body mass index and blood pressure with Ood Ratio results of 53,106 in systole blood pressure and 28,864 in diastole blood pressure, which means that body mass index above normal has a risk of 53 times higher systolic blood pressure and 28 times higher diastolic blood pressure. So that there is a significant relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) and blood pressure in the elderly. So with this research, it is hoped that the elderly will maintain an ideal body weight. Faktor yang berperan memicu adanya penyakit hipertensi adalah kegemukan, kegemukan dapat ditentukan dengan cara menghitung Indeks Massa Tubuh. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan Indeks Massa Tubuh dengan tekanan darah pada lansia hipertensi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional dan menggunakan pendekatan cross sectional. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 89 orang lansia dengan teknik sampling purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar observasi berdasarkan pengukuran dengan tensimeter digital dan timbangan digital. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa hasil uji chi square diperoleh nilai sig. (2-tailed) antara indeks massa tubuh dengan tekanan darah yaitu sebesar 0,000 (tekanan darah sistole) dan 0,003 (tekanan darah diastole) (p.value < α 0,05) yang berarti terdapat hubungan antara indeks massa tubuh dengan tekanan darah dengan hasil Ood Ratio sebesar 53.106 pada tekanan darah sistole dan 28.864 pada tekanan darah diastole, yang artinya indeks massa tubuh diatas normal berisiko 53 kali mengalami tekanan darah sistolik lebih tinggi dan 28 kali mengalami tekanan darah diastolik lebih tinggi. Sehingga terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT) dengan tekanan darah pada lansia. Jadi dengan penelitian ini diharapkan para lansia tetap menjaga berat badan yang ideal.
