Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FASTING BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVELS AND CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS IN KARANGASEM HOSPITAL Background Type 2 diabetes mellitus is associated with dyslipidemia, which is a condition in which there is an abnormality in blood lipid levels, including cholesterol. This condition often occurs in diabetics due to ineffective insulin or insulin resistance which causes increased cholesterol production by the liver. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between fasting blood glucose levels and cholesterol levels in the incidence of type-2 diabetes mellitus at Karangasem Hospital. The research method was analytic observational, consisting of 34 respondents with purposive sampling technique. Data collection was done by interview and examination of fasting blood glucose levels with cholesterol levels using clinical chemistry tools Aultoanalyzelr.The results of the study were tested with the spearman rank test obtained the results of p value = 0.02
