Abstract
THE EFFECT OF LOCAL MICROORGANISMS (MOL) OF STABLE RICE ON THE PHYSICAL QUALITY OF COMPOST ORGANIC TRASH ABSTRACT Organic waste management is very important to prevent negative impacts on health and the environment. One management method is composting, which can convert organic waste into compost. This research looked at the composting process by adding local microorganisms (MOL) of stale rice to three types of waste: canang (F1), straw (F2), and leaves (F3). A total of 27 samples with three replications and nine repetitions for each sample were used. Observations were made on changes in pH, temperature and organoleptic tests (color, texture and aroma) of the compost. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney statistical tests with SPSS software. The research results showed that the pH of the compost increased to close to pH 7, indicating that the composting process was going well. The compost temperature increased starting from day 6, reaching a peak temperature of 30-40°C, indicating intense microbial activity. Organoleptic tests showed that the color of the canang compost was 96.67% black, the straw was 58.89% black, and the leaves were 100% black. The texture of canang and straw compost is 100% coarse, while the leaves are 100% smooth. The aroma of canang compost and straw each smells 53.33% earthy, while the leaves smell 100% earthy. The results of the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests showed significant differences in all parameters between canang, straw and leaf compost with p<0.05. Future researchers are expected to check the chemical quality (N, P, K, C/N ratio) of compost, pay attention to the C/N ratio of raw materials, maintain humidity during composting, and use varying doses of bioactivators in each compost treatment. Key words: organic waste, composting PENGARUH MIKROORGANISME LOKAL (MOL) NASI BASI TERHADAP KUALITAS FISIK KOMPOS SAMPAH ORGANIK ABSTRAK Pengelolaan sampah organik sangat penting untuk mencegah dampak negatif terhadap kesehatan dan lingkungan. Salah satu metode pengelolaan adalah pengomposan, yang dapat mengubah sampah organik menjadi pupuk kompos. Penelitian ini mengamati proses pengomposan dengan penambahan Mikroorganisme Lokal (MOL) nasi basi pada tiga jenis sampah: canang (F1), jerami (F2), dan daun (F3). Sebanyak 27 sampel dengan tiga kali replikasi dan sembilan pengulangan untuk masing-masing sampel digunakan. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap perubahan pH, suhu, dan uji organoleptik (warna, tekstur, dan aroma) kompos. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik Kruskal-Wallis dan Mann-Whitney dengan software SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pH kompos meningkat mendekati pH 7, menunjukkan proses pengomposan berjalan baik. Suhu kompos meningkat mulai dari hari ke-6, mencapai suhu tertinggi 30-40°C, mengindikasikan aktivitas mikroba yang intens. Uji organoleptik menunjukkan warna kompos canang 96,67% kehitaman, jerami 58,89% kehitaman, dan daun 100% kehitaman. Tekstur kompos canang dan jerami 100% kasar, sementara daun 100% halus. Aroma kompos canang dan jerami masing-masing 53,33% berbau tanah, sedangkan daun 100% berbau tanah. Hasil uji Kruskal-Wallis dan Mann-Whitney menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan pada semua parameter antara kompos canang, jerami, dan daun dengan p<0,05. Peneliti selanjutnya diharapkan memeriksa kualitas kimia (N, P, K, C/N rasio) kompos, memperhatikan C/N rasio bahan baku, menjaga kelembaban selama pengomposan, dan menggunakan variasi dosis bioaktivator pada setiap perlakuan kompos.
