Abstract

ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY TEST OF THE COMBINATION OF ETANOL EXTRACT OF KEPUH TREE (Sterculia foetida) WITH VIRGIN COCONUT OIL ON THE GROWTH OF THE BACTERI Staphylococcus aureus ABSTRACT Background: Staphylococcus aureus is a dangerous pathogen that can cause a wide range of diseases. In addition, the resistance of this bacteria to various types of antibiotics has increased. This study shows that kepuh seed (Sterculia foetida) has potential as an antibacterial because it has a variety of active compounds. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of the combination of ethanol extract of kepuh seeds with virgin coconut oil against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Methods: This type of research is experimental with a complete randomized design using the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method with five concentrations, namely 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, and 40%, working control chloramphenicol 30 µg and negative control NaCl 0.9%.
