Abstract

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS ANDA THE DEGREE OF HYPERTENSION IN THE ELDERLY AT UPTD PUSKESMAS 1 DENPASAR SELATAN ABSTRACT Background High total cholesterol levels are experienced by many people with hypertension. A blockage in the blood vessels will cause the lumen of the blood vessels to narrow and the elasticity of the blood vessel walls will decrease, causing hypertension. Purpose research to determine the relationship between total cholesterol levels and the degree of hypertension in the elderly at UPTD Puskesmas 1 Denpasar Selatan. Method is analytical observation research, consisting of 43 respondents using consecutive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out by interviews and measuring total cholesterol levels using the Point Of Care Testing (POCT) tool and measuring hypertension using a sphygmomanometer. Results showed that of the 43 respondents, 67.4% of respondents were female, 53.7% were aged 54-59 years. Total cholesterol levels showed that 30.2% of respondents were
