Abstract

THE RELATION BETWEEN PARITY AND LEVEL OF PERINEAL LACERATION IN NORMAL LABOUR AT RSUD WANGAYA DENPASAR CITY ON 2018 ABSTRACT Perineal laseration is the second cause of bleeding in normal labour, which can occur from one until four degrees. One of the factors affecting the degree of perineal laceration is parity. Parity shows the number of given birth to a baby either alive or dead and has reached the stage of viability regardless of the number of children born. This study aims to determine the relation between parity and level of perineal laceration in normal labour at RSUD Wangaya Denpasar City on 2018. The type of research is used non-experimental with correlational analytic type and retrospective approach using non probability sampling with purposive sampling. The number of samples was 145 people. The study was conducted on April 16th until May 11th 2018 using secondary data collected with documentation sheets. The results showed the most parity was primiparous mother (51.7%), the most perineal lacerations was second-degree perineal lacerations (43%). Hypothesis test was used Rank Spearman test with p = 0,000 <α (0,05) and r (rho) = -0,695 indicate strong relation and there was an opposite correlation between parity and level of perineal laceration. There was a significant relation between parity and level of perineal laceration in normal labour at RSUD Wangaya Denpasar City on 2018. Health workers are expected to provide counseling on perineal massage when Ante Natal Care (ANC) and future researchers are expected to conduct research using other risk factors.
