Abstract

OVERVIEW OF CURRENT BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVELS IN THE ELDERLY IN BANJAR CURAH, GUBUG VILLAGE, TABANAN DISTRICT, TABANAN REGENCY ABSTRACT Elderly people are a group of individuals who are experiencing the aging process. The body's cells become resistant to insulin as we age, resulting in a decrease in the body's ability in the elderly to metabolize glucose in the blood. The aging process puts elderly people at risk of developing diabetes mellitus. The aim of this research is to determine the picture of blood glucose levels in the elderly. Research method uses descriptive research which was carried out in January-April 2024 in Banjar Curah, Gubug Village, Tabanan District, Tabanan Regency. The population used was 50 elderly people obtained through purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through interview sheets, measuring body mass index (BMI), and examination using the GCU Easy Touch brand POCT tool. The results of the study showed that 8% of elderly people had blood glucose levels in the low category, 78% of elderly people had blood glucose levels in the normal category, and 14% of elderly people had blood glucose levels in the high category. The average blood glucose level at any time was 136.80 mg/dL with the lowest level being 72 mg/dL and the highest level being 260 mg/dL. Based on this data, it can be concluded that the majority of elderly people have blood glucose levels in the normal category. Key words: elderly, glucose, DM GAMBARAN KADAR GLUKOSA DARAH SEWAKTU PADA LANSIA DI BANJAR CURAH DESA GUBUG KECAMATAN TABANAN KABUPATEN TABANAN ABSTRAK Lanjut usia adalah suatu kelompok individu yang mengalami proses penuaan. Sel- sel tubuh menjadi resisten terhadap insulin seiring dengan bertambahnya usia yang mengakibatkan terjadinya penurunan kemampuan tubuh pada lansia untuk melakukan metabolisme glukosa dalam darah. Proses penuaan membuat lansia beresiko terkena diabetes melitus. Tujuan dari penelitian untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar glukosa darah sewaktu pada lansia. Penelitian menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif, dilakukan pada bulan Januari- April 2024 di Banjar Curah Desa Gubug Kecamatan Tabanan Kabupaten Tabanan. Populasi penelitian adalah lansia dengan besar sampel 50 orang melalui teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui lembar wawancara, pengukuran indeks massa tubuh (IMT), dan pemeriksaan dengan alat POCT merk Eassy Touch GCU. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebanyak 8% lansia memiliki kadar glukosa darah sewaktu dengan kategori rendah, 78% lansia dengan kategori normal, dan 14% lansia dengan kategori tinggi. Rata-rata kadar glukosa darah sewaktu yaitu 136,80 mg/dL dengan kadar terendah 72 mg/dL dan kadar tertinggi yaitu 260 mg/dL. Berdasarkan data tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa sebagian besar lansia memiliki kadar glukosa darah sewaktu kategori normal. Kata kunci : lansia, glukosa, DM
