Abstract
A BOILED LAYER LEAF DECREASES LEVELS BLOOD SUGAR IN ELDERLY PATIENTS TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS Research was conducted in the Abang II Community Health Center Work Area, Abang District, Karangasem Regency ABSTRACT In the elderly, high blood sugar can damage various body systems. Bay leaves have components as anti-diabetic effects. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of bay leaf decoction on blood sugar levels in elderly people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The method used is pre-experimental with one group pre-post test design. This study, using probability sampling technique with proportionate stratified random sampling method, the sample size was 49 respondents. Respondents consumed 220 ml of decoction every morning before meals, given once a day for one week. The instruments used were observation sheets based on the results of measuring blood sugar levels using easy touch, SOP for making, giving bay leaf decoction water, and measuring cups. The bay leaves used are older bay leaves weighing 2 grams. The results of random blood sugar measurements before giving bay leaf cooking water all respondents had blood sugar levels> 200 mg/dl as many as 49 respondents (100%). After giving bay leaf cooking water, respondents measured blood sugar randomly obtained blood sugar < 200 mg/dL as many as 46 people (93.9%). Based on the results of the paired t-test parametric statistical test, the p-value at sig (2-tailed) was 0.001 (p < 0.05). These results prove that there is an effect of bay leaf decoction on blood sugar levels in elderly people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Key words: blood sugar, elderly, bay leaves REBUSAN DAUN SALAM MENURUNKAN KADAR GULA DARAH PADA LANSIA PENDERITA DIABETES MELITUS TIPE 2 Penelitian Dilakukan di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Abang II, Kecamatan Abang, Kabupaten Karangasem ABSTRAK Pada lansia, gula darah yang tinggi dapat merusak berbagai sistem tubuh. Daun salam memiliki komponen sebagai efek anti diabetes. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh rebusan daun salam terhadap kadar gula darah pada lansia penderita diabetes melitus tipe 2. Metode yang digunakan adalah pre-eksperimental dengan one group pre-post test design. Penelitian ini, menggunakan teknik probability sampling dengan metode proportionate stratified random sampling, jumlah sampel sebanyak 49 responden. Responden mengkonsumsi rebusan sebanyak 220 ml setiap pagi sebelum makan, diberikan satu kali sehari selama satu minggu. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi berdasarkan hasil pengukuran kadar gula darah menggunakan easy touch, SOP pembuatan, pemberian air rebusan daun salam, dan gelas ukur. Daun salam yang di gunakan adalah daun salam yang lebih tua dengan berat 2 gram. Hasil pengukuran gula darah acak sebelum pemberian air rebusan daun salam seluruh responden memiliki kadar gula darah >200 mg/dl sebanyak 49 responden (100%). Setelah pemberian air rebusan daun salam responden di ukur gula darah acak di dapatkan gula darah < 200 mg/dL sebanyak 46 orang (93.9%). Berdasarkan hasil uji statistik parametrik paired t-test, didapatkan hasil nilai p-value pada sig (2-tailed) sebesar 0,001 (p < 0,05). Hasil ini membuktikan terdapat pengaruh rebusan daun salam terhadap kadar gula darah pada lansia penderita diabetes melitus tipe 2. Kata kunci : gula darah, lansia, daun salam
