Abstract
THE EFFECT OF ACTIVE CYCLE OF BREATHING TECHNIQUE (ACBT) ON PEAK EXPIRATORY FLOW EXPIRATORY FLOW IN ASTHMA PATIENTS Study Conducted in Emergency Room of Klungkung Regency Hospital in 2024 ABSTRACT Asthma is a chronic inflammation of the respiratory tract. In asthma patients, there is an obstruction of the respiratory tract which causes difficulty during expiration, resulting in a decrease in Peak Flow Rate (PFR). PFR can be increased by giving Active Cycle of Breathing Technique (ACBT). ACBT consists of three stages namely Breathing Control (BC), Thoracic Expansion Exercise (TEE), Forced Expiration Technique (FET) or "huffing" technique. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Active Cycle of Breathing Technique (ACBT) on PFR in asthma patients at the Emergency Room of Klungkung Hospital. This type of research is a pre experiment with a one-group pre-posttest design on 20 respondents selected by purposive sampling. PFR was examined using a peak flow meter. The results of the study obtained the average APE before being given ACBT of 279.50 L/min and increased after being given ACBT to 300.50 L/min with a p value in the paired samples t-test of 0.000 (< α = 0.005). Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that there is an effect of Active Cycle of Breathing Technique (ACBT) on peak expiratory flow in asthma patients. Based on this, it is expected that Active Cycle of Breathing Technique (ACBT) can be applied to asthma patients to increase peak expiratory flow so as to accelerate patient recovery. Keywords: Asthma, peak flow rate, Active Cycle of Breathing Technique (ACBT) PENGARUH PEMBERIAN ACTIVE CYCLE OF BREATHING TECHNIQUE (ACBT) TERHADAP ARUS PUNCAK EKSPIRASI PADA PASIEN ASMA Studi Dilakukan di IGD RSUD Klungkung Tahun 2024 ABSTRAK Asma adalah inflamasi kronis pada saluran pernapasan. Kata kunci : Asma, arus puncak ekspirasi, Active Cycle of Breathing Technique (ACBT)
