Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MOTIVATION AND COMPLIANCE WITH CHEMOTHERAPY IN BREAST CANCER PATIENTS AT RSUD BALI MANDARA ABSTRACT Cancer is one of the most common non-communicable diseases in the world. One of the most common types of cancer experienced by women is breast cancer. Breast cancer patients increase every year. One of the treatments for cancer cases is chemotherapy. Chemotherapy can cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, hair loss, decreased appetite and pain. With various side effects caused, it affects patient compliance in undergoing chemotherapy. One of the factors that can improve patient compliance is motivation. The general purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between motivation and compliance with chemotherapy in breast cancer patients at Bali Mandara Hospital. The type of research used is correlation with cross sectional design. Sampling using consecutive sampling technique as many as 79 people. The study was conducted using IMI and MMAS questionnaires to measure patient motivation and compliance. The results showed that breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy had strong motivation, namely 36 samples (45.6%). In addition, 42 samples (53.2%) with high compliance underwent chemotherapy. The results of the Spearman Rank test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) which means that there is a significant relationship between motivation and patient compliance in undergoing chemotherapy. Keywords: breast cancer, chemotherapy, compliance, motivation HUBUNGAN MOTIVASI DENGAN KEPATUHAN MENJALANI KEMOTERAPI PADA PASIEN KANKER PAYUDARA DI RSUD BALI MANDARA ABSTRAK Penyakit kanker menjadi salah satu penyakit tidak menular yang paling banyak terjadi di dunia. Salah satu jenis kanker yang paling banyak dialami oleh wanita yaitu kanker payudara. Pasien kanker payudara melonjak setiap tahunnya. Salah satu penatalaksanaan kasus kanker yaitu dengan cara kemoterapi. Kemoterapi dapat menimbulkan efek samping seperti mual, muntah, rambut rontok, penurunan nafsu makan dan nyeri. Dengan berbagai efek samping yang ditimbulkan berpengaruh pada kepatuhan pasien dalam menjalani kemoterapi. Salah satu faktor yang dapat meningkatkan kepatuhan pasien adalah motivasi. Tujuan umum dari penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui hubungan motivasi dengan kepatuhan menjalani kemoterapi pada pasien kanker payudara di RSUD Bali Mandara. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah korelasional dengan design cross sectional. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik consecutive sampling sebanyak 79 orang. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuisioner IMI dan MMAS untuk mengukur motivasi dan kepatuhan pasien. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pasien kanker payudara yang menjalani kemoterapi memiliki motivasi kuat yaitu sebanyak 36 sampel (45,6%). Selain itu, diperoleh 42 sampel (53,2%) dengan kepatuhan tinggi menjalani kemoterapi. Hasil uji Rank Spearman menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (p < 0,05) yang berarti adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara motivasi dengan kepatuhan pasien dalam menjalani kemoterapi.
