Abstract

DESCRIPTION OF BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVELS IN THE ELDERLY IN SUBAMIA VILLAGE TABANAN DISTRICT TABANAN REGENCY IN 2023 ABSTRACT Glucose is the sugar found in the blood which is formed from carbohydrates. Increased glucose levels in the body can be at risk of developing diabetes mellitus. Diabetes mellitus is more common in the elderly because the organs of the elderly cannot produce sufficient amounts of insulin or the organs are unable to use insulin properly and complications appear more quickly in the elderly. The purpose of this study was to describe blood glucose levels during the elderly in Subamia Village, Tabanan District, Tabanan Regency. This type of research is descriptive quantitative with the number of samples used as many as 41 samples with proportional random sampling sampling technique. Data collection through interviews and blood glucose level examination using a glucometer brand Easy Touch GCU with the POCT method. The results showed that 80.5% of the respondents were in the elderly group (60-74 years), 56.1% were male and 41.5% were in the moderate physical activity group. The results of measuring blood glucose levels while showing 65.9% of respondents in the normal category, 31.7% of respondents in the high category and 2.4% of respondents in the low category. As many as 31.7% of respondents had blood glucose levels in the high category where the glucose levels were influenced by factors of age, gender and physical activity. Meningkatnya kadar glukosa pada tubuh dapat beresiko terkena penyakit diabetes melitus. Penyakit diabetes melitus lebih sering terjadi pada lansia karena organ tubuh lansia tidak dapat memproduksi insulin dalam jumlah yang cukup atau organ tubuh tidak mampu menggunakan insulin dengan baik serta komplikasi lebih cepat muncul pada lansia. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar glukosa darah sewaktu pada lansia di Desa Subamia, Kecamatan Tabanan, Kabupaten Tabanan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan jumlah sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 41 sampel dengan teknik pengambilan sampel proportional random sampling. Pengumpulan data melalui wawancara dan pemeriksaan kadar glukosa darah menggunakan alat glukometer merk Easy Touch GCU dengan metode POCT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 80,5% responden merupakan kelompok usia lanjut (60-74 tahun), 56,1% berjenis kelamin laki-laki dan 41,5% merupakan kelompok aktivitas fisik sedang. Hasil pengukuran kadar glukosa darah sewaktu menunjukkan 65,9% responden dengan kategori normal, 31,7% responden dengan kategori tinggi dan 2,4% responden dengan kategori rendah. Sebanyak 31,7% responden memiliki kadar glukosa darah sewaktu kategori tinggi dimana kadar glukosa tersebut dipengaruhi berdasarkan faktor usia, jenis kelamin, dan aktivitas fisik.
