Abstract
DETECTION OF SOIL-TRANSMITTED HELMINTH AMONG SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN OF SDN 3 KERTA PAYANGAN GIANYAR ABSTRACT Background: Helminthiasis are diseases caused by intestinal nematodes of the soil-transmitted helminth (STH). Soil transmitted helminth infections are most common in children infections. They are distributed throughout the world with high prevalence rates in tropical countries mainly because of lack of adequate sanitary facilities, inappropriate waste disposal systems, lack of safe water supply, and low socio-economic status. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to confirm the presence of soil-borne helminth eggs in the nails of student in SDN 3-Kerta. Method: This was a descriptive study conducted in 21 elementary students. The subjects were I, II, and III graders, and the sedimentation method was used as the test method. Results: The study showed that one egg of Ascaris lumbricoides (4.8%) was found. Those parasite were found among students aged 8 years (4.8%), male (4.8%), with rare category hand washing habits, frequent category nail clipping habits, and frequent floor-playing habits. Most students already have good habits of washing their hands and clipping their nails. Conclusion: From the results of this study, it can be concluded that one sample (4.8%) positive contained eggs of STH worms type Ascaris lumbricoides in student fingernail samples. Keywords: helminthiasis, elementary school students, nails, STH, sedimentation method IDENTIFIKASI TELUR CACING SOIL TRANSMITTED HELMINTH PADA KUKU TANGAN SISWA DI SDN 3 KERTA KECAMATAN PAYANGAN KABUPATEN GIANYAR ABSTRAK Latar belakang: Kecacingan merupakan penyakit yang disebabkan oleh nematoda usus kelompok Soil Transmitted Helminth (STH). Kecacingan merupakan penyakit endemik yang dapat menyebabkan masalah kesehatan khususnya pada anak-anak. Kecacingan lebih sering terjadi pada anak-anak usia pra sekolah dan usia sekolah. Tujuan penelitian: Untuk mengidentifikasi keberadaan telur cacing Soil Transmitted Helminth pada kuku tangan siswa SDN 3 Kerta. Metode: Jenis penelitian ini bersifat deskritif dengan menggunakan metode total sampling. Jumlah sampel yang didapat yaitu sebanyak 21 sampel kuku tangan, subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas I, II dan III. Metode pemeriksaan yang digunakan adalah metode sedimentasi. Hasil: Didapatkan satu sampel (4.8%) positif ditemukan adanya telur cacing STH jenis Ascaris lumbricoides. Kecacingan di temukan pada siswa berusia 8 tahun (4.8%), berjenis kelamin laki-laki (4.8%), memiliki kebiasaan mencuci tangan dengan kategori jarang, kebiasaan memotong kuku dengan kategori sering dan sering bermain ditanah. Sebagian besar siswa sudah memiliki kebiasaan mencuci tangan dan memotong kuku yang baik. Kesimpulan: Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa didapatkan satu sampel (4.8%) positif ditemukan adanya telur cacing STH jenis Ascaris lumbricoides pada sampel kuku tangan siswa.
