Abstract

DESCRIPTIVE OF TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN ACTIVE SMOKERS AT BANJAR JELANTIK KURIBATU AREA, TOJAN VILLAGE, KLUNGKUNG DISTRICT, KLUNGKUNG REGENCY ABSTRACT Smoking habits correlated strongly with increased total cholesterol levels. The adrenaline hormone stimulated by the nicotine in cigarette smoke can damage the walls of blood vessels, altering fat metabolism, which results in a decrease in HDL in the bloodstream and an increase in total cholesterol. The purpose of this study was to describe total cholesterol levels in active smokers in the Banjar Jelantik Kuribatu area, Tojan Village, Klungkung District, Klungkung Regency. The research type are descriptive research with a sample size of 30 male active smokers aged 20-60 years obtained by purposive sampling technique. Examination of total cholesterol levels was carried out using the POCT method using capillary blood. The results showed that 11 respondents (36.7%) had normal total cholesterol levels, 14 respondents (46.7%) had a high threshold, and 5 respondents (16.7%) had a high threshold. High total cholesterol levels are found in active smokers with the age group of 20-30 years and 50-60 years (6.7%), with the number of cigarettes consumed per day 1-10 cigarettes as much (10%), in the long range of smoking for 1-5 years as much (10%), and BMI in the normal category (10%). Most active smokers have high threshold total cholesterol levels in the age category 20-30 and 50-60 and consume 1-10 cigarettes per day with a smoking duration of 1-5 years with normal BMI category. Hormon adrenalin yang dipicu oleh nikotin dalam asap rokok dapat merusak dinding pembuluh darah, mengubah metabolisme lemak, yang menghasilkan penurunan HDL dalam aliran darah dan kolesterol total dapat meningkat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar kolesterol total pada perokok aktif di wilayah Banjar Jelantik Kuribatu, Desa Tojan, Kecamatan Klungkung, Kabupaten Klungkung. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian deskriptif dengan besar sampel sebanyak 30 orang laki-laki perokok aktif dengan usia 20-60 tahun yang diperoleh dengan teknik purposive sampling. Pemeriksaan kadar kolesterol total dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode POCT menggunakan darah kapiler. Hasil penelitian diperoleh 11 responden (36,7%) memiliki kadar kolesterol total normal, ambang batas tinggi sebanyak 14 responden (46,7%), dan tinggi sebanyak 5 responden (16,7%). Kadar kolesterol total yang tinggi terdapat pada perokok aktif dengan kelompok usia 20-30 tahun dan 50-60 tahun (6,7%), dengan banyaknya rokok rokok yang dikonsumsi perhari 1-10 batang sebanyak (10%), pada rentang lama merokok selama 1-5 tahun sebanyak (10%), serta IMT pada kategori normal (10%). Sebagian besar perokok aktif memiliki kadar kolesterol total ambang batas tinggi pada kategori usia 20-30 dan 50-60 dan mengkonsumsi rokok 1-10 batang perhari dengan lama merokok selama 1-5 tahun dengan kategori IMT normal.
