Abstract
THE DESCRIPTION OF TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN MENOPAUSE WOMEN AT SEMPIDI VILLAGE MENGWI DISTRICT BADUNG REGENCY ABSTRACT Background: The decrease of the hormone estrogen in postmenopause women will lead to an increase in lipid profile or total cholesterol. A reduced amount of estrogen becomes susceptible to an increase in total cholesterol. Purpose: This study was to determine the description of total cholesterol levels in postmenopause women at Sempidi Village, Mengwi District, Badung Regency. Method: This research is a descriptive research conducted in March-April 2023 with a total of 43 respondents using the POCT method with obtained by simple random sampling technique. Results: The results of the study from 43 respondents showed that as many as 12 people (28%) had normal total cholesterol levels, the threshold was 20 people (47%), and high was 11 people (25%). Total cholesterol levels based on characteristics found that the most total cholesterol levels were in the late elderly category (56-60 years) of 30 people (70%), with periods of cessation of menstruation ≥5 years of 34 people (80%), body mass index (BMI ) overweight (≥25,1 – <27 kg/m2) as many as 16 people (37%), who had used hormonal contraception 23 people (54%), and the type of hormonal contraception used, namely contraceptive injections was 20 people (46%). Conclusion: From the results of the study showed that total cholesterol levels in postmenopause women were found in the upper threshold category, in the late elderly (56-60 years), body mass index overweight (≥25,1 – <27 kg/m2), having used hormonal contraception and the type of contraception used, namely contraceptive injections. Keywords: menopause, hormones, total cholesterol GAMBARAN KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL PADA WANITA MENOPAUSE DI DESA SEMPIDI KECAMATAN MENGWI KABUPATEN BADUNG ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Penurunan hormon estrogen pada wanita menopause akan menyebabkan peningkatan profil lipid atau kolesterol total. Jumlah estrogen yang berkurang menjadi rentan terhadap peningkatan kolesterol total. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar kolesterol total pada wanita menopause di Desa Sempidi Kecamatan Mengwi Kabupaten Badung. Metode: Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret-April 2023 dengan jumlah responden 43 orang menggunakan metode POCT dengan teknik simple random sampling. Hasil: Hasil penelitian dari 43 responden menunjukkan bahwa 12 orang (28%) memiliki kadar kolesterol total normal, ambang batas atas sebanyak 20 orang (47%), dan tinggi sebanyak 11 orang (25%). Kadar kolesterol total berdasarkan karakteristik ditemukan paling banyak pada kategori lansia akhir (56-60 tahun) sebanyak 30 orang (70%), dengan periode berhentinya menstruasi ≥5 tahun sebanyak 34 orang (80%), indeks massa tubuh (IMT) overweight (≥25,1 – <27 kg/m2) sebanyak 16 orang (37%), pernah menggunakan kontrasepsi hormonal 23 orang (54%), dan jenis kontrasepsi yang digunakan yaitu KB suntik sebanyak 20 orang (46%). Simpulan: Hasil penelitian ini diperoleh bahwa kadar kolesterol total pada wanita menopause ditemukan pada kategori ambang batas atas, pada usia lansia akhir (56-60 tahun), indeks massa tubuh overweight (≥25,1 – <27 kg/m2), pernah menggunakan kontrasepsi hormonal dan jenis kontrasepsi yang digunakan yaitu suntik KB.
