Abstract
IDENTIFICATION OF Soil Transmitted Helminths EGG ON CABBAGE (Brassica Oleracea) IN TRADITIONAL MARKETS SIDAKARYA VILLAGE DISTRICT SOUTH DENPASAR ABSTRACT Transmission of worm eggs to humans can occur through soil contaminated. The route of transmission of helminths through the consumption of vegetables easily occurs in everyday life because vegetables are food that is needed by the body. Cabbage (Brassica oleracea) is a vegetable that is often contaminated with Soil Transmitted Helminths eggs and is a type of vegetable that is usually eaten raw, because its texture and organoleptic qualities allow it to be consumed as fresh vegetables. The squiggly surface of cabbage leaves allows worm eggs to breed and settle in them. The purpose of this study was to determine the contamination of Soil Transmitted Helminths eggs on cabbage in traditional markets. This research is a descriptive research. The method used in this study is sedimentation with 0.2% NaOH solution. The showed that presence of STH egg contamination in cabbage 9%. The highest number of positives was found in the Batan Kendal market with a percentage of 6.06%. The most common species found was Ascaris lumbricoides with a percentage of 75%. Based on the results of the study showed contamination of Soil Transmitted Helminths eggs on cabbage (Brassica oleracea) obtained from traditional markets in Sidakarya Village, District Denpasar South, namely Batan Kendal Market, Sudha Mertha Market and Adi Kusuma Market. Jalur penularan cacing melalui konsumsi sayuran mudah terjadi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari karena sayur adalah makanan yang sangat diperlukan oleh tubuh. Kubis (Brassica oleracea) adalah salah satu sayuran yang sering terkontaminasi telur Soil Transmitted Helminths dan merupakan jenis sayuran yang biasanya dimakan mentah, karena tekstur dan kualitas organoleptiknya memungkinkan untuk dikonsumsi sebagai lalapan. Permukaan daun kubis yang berlekuk-lekuk memungkinkan telur cacing berkembang biak dan menetap di dalamnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya kontaminasi telur Soil Transmitted Helminths pada sayur kubis di pasar tradisional Desa Sidakarya Kecamatan Denpasar Selatan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif. Peneliti menggunakan metode sedimentasi dengan larutan NaOH 0,2%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya kontaminasi telur STH pada kubis dengan persentase 9%. Jumlah positif terbanyak terdapat pada pasar Batan kendal dengan persentase 6,06%. Spesies yang paling banyak ditemukan adalah Ascaris lumbricoides dengan persentase 75%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya kontaminasi telur Soil Transmitted Helminths pada kubis (Brassica oleracea) yang diperoleh dari pasar tradisional di Desa Sidakarya Kecamatan Denpasar Selatan yaitu Pasar Batan Kendal, Sudha Mertha dan Adi Kusuma.
