Abstract
Open defecation behavior in Bungaya Village was recorded from 1800 family heads, 136 family heads were still practicing open defecation. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between healthy latrine ownership, income of the family head and the distance between the house and the river and open defecation behavior. in Bungaya Village in 2023. This type of research is an observational analytic epidemiological study with a cross-sectional design. The results of statistical tests using the Chi Square Test show that the asymp.sig (2- sided) value for healthy latrine ownership is 0.000 < α (0.05), and has a relationship level with the Coefficient Contingency (CC) value of 0.632, this value means that there is a strong relationship with open defecation behavior in Bungaya Village in 2023, then for the income of the head of the family with an asymp.sig (2-sided) value of 0.002 < α (0, 05), and has a relationship level with the Coefficient Contingency (CC) value of 0.301. This value means that there is a low relationship with open defecation behavior in Bungaya Village in 2023, the last being the distance of the house from the river with an asymp.sig (2-sided) value of 0.000 < α (0.05), and has a relationship level with the Coefficient Contingency (CC) value of 0.499 which means it has a moderate relationship with open defecation behavior in Bungaya Village in 2023. Suggestions to the puskesmas to provide education regarding the dangers of open defecation for residents who are in suspected of practicing open defecation
