Abstract
THE DESCRIPTION OF URIC ACID IN ELDERLY AT RIANGGEDE VILLAGE, DISTRICTS PENEBEL ABSTRACK Background: Elderly people in Rianggede Village, Penebel District at the age of >60 years have complaints of joint pain that repeatedly results in hampered physical activity. This is due to the accumulation of purine substances in the blood and lack of knowledge about foods high in purines such as nuts, offal, red meat, and spinach. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the results of examination of uric acid levels in the elderly in Rianggede Village, Penebel District. Method: This type of descriptive research was carried out in February-April 2022 using a non-probability sampling technique with a purposive sampling method, totaling 42 people. Uric acid levels were measured using the stick method with the Easy Touch GCU. Results: The results of normal uric acid levels were 28 respondents (66.66%), the results of high uric acid levels were 11 respondents (26.19%), and the results of low uric acid levels were 3 respondents (7.14%). High uric acid levels were more commonly found in the elderly aged 60-69 years as many as 8 respondents (19.04%). It was more common in women as many as 8 people (19.04%). Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that most of the elderly experience normal uric acid levels. High uric acid levels are more common in the elderly aged 60-69 years and are more common in women. Keywords: Uric acid level, Elderly
